The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarised below. All players must adhere to the following:
Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
Be a good sport. Recognise, respect and applaud good performance, whether from your team or the opposition.
Shake hands with and thank the opposition players and officials after the game - win, lose or draw.
Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit. Make every effort to develop your own abilities. Enjoy your performances, and not just results.
Honour both the spirit and letter of the competition rules and live up to the highest ideals of ethics and sportsmanship; avoid gamesmanship and respect the traditions of the game.
Make every effort to be consistent with Fair Play and the Laws of the Game. Consider the well-being and safety of all players; never get involved in violence and rough or foul play.
Never engage in disrespectful conduct of any sort including swearing, obscene gestures, offensive remarks, racial abuse, taunting or other actions that are demeaning to other players, officials or supporters. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at Wyke ARLFC. We are a TELLING club.
Safeguard yours and others health; do not condone or use any illegal or unhealthy substances.
Respect all equipment and facilities provided by Wyke ARLFC and the opposition - care for and respect the facilities and equipment made available to you during training and matches.
Recognise that many officials, coaches and match officials are volunteers who give up their time to provide their services. Treat them with the utmost respect - Remember, without them you do not have a game.
Respect the match officials at all times, and accept all decisions – DO NOT complain or argue about decisions during or after a game.
Wyke ARLFC WILL NOT tolerate any form of referee abuse or any other anti-social behaviour from any member. Any persons reported could be expelled from the Club.
Every person who attends a Rugby League match does so with the permission and license of the home club & league. Breaches of this Code of Conduct may result in penalties up to and including a fine, loss of team match points and suspension.
The Rugby Football League publication entitled ‘RESPECT’, outlining the standards expected of ALL participants of Rugby League is available, along with copies of Wyke ARLFC’s Codes of Conduct & Policies from the Club Secretary
